Measuring

In order to build you the best plantation shutters possible, we need to know the window dimensions and whether you prefer a painted or stained finish on your shutters. We’ve detailed some information below on how to measure your window openings for your new plantation shutters.

Measuring for Outside mount shutters (many sash or bay type windows)

Width
With your steel tape, measure from the outside opening from the left side to the obstacle that projects furthest from the right side of the window. Take this measurement at the bottom, middle and top of the window opening. Select the widest of measurements as the correct measurement. This will give you the measurement which will determine the width of your plantation shutters.

Height
With your steel tape, measure from the outside opening from the top side to the obstacle that projects furthest from the bottom side of the window. Take this measurement at the left, middle, and right of the window opening. Select the longest of measurements as the correct measurement. This will give you the measurement which will determine the height of your plantation shutters.

Measuring for Inside mount plantation shutters (door opening or windows with sill)

Once you have determind that there is sufficient depth, and that your window opening is square you will be measuring for inside mount window shutters.

Width
